AoE III Conquerors is an expansion to the Kings version, with a few more nations and stuff, pretty cool. I played it a few times on-line but I honestly liked the offline mode much better. A lot different options, modes, etc... always something new to try. The Mythology was a whole new game which I never really got into. |

That was Age of Empires II then (The Conquerors). It was the South American one?
I do think the period of AoK was the best, the medieval stuff - trebuchets, crossbows, cavalry, early guns and those crazy camel fellas who throw scimitars and never run out. But the engine on Mythology was far superior. Like you can build walls wherever you like, not just 45 degree increments from north. Then again the actual mythological god powers never really inspired me too much. They were all too often decisive, which meant that choosing the right race was more important than actual strategy.
Oh - I forgot Empire Earth - that was good fun. |

Yes - you never forget your first nuke. First to gunpowder usually wins it though. |

You're absolutely right of course it's AoE II, but AoK was II right? And Conquerors was an expansion to that.
Never played AoE III, and I still think AoM and Empire Earth were less than Conquerors. Empire Earth was funny too though, into the future. |

Oh and TF2 (orange box delights) occasionally.

TMN
TMU (A bit)
Football Manager 08
America's Armies
CSS
AoE III
Medieval Total War 2
World Of warcraft
Guild Wars
Battlefield 2
Think thats it _________________

omg if we're going back to spectrum days, I'll need a whole new thread ... Manic Miner, everyone's favourite and still iconic today. Rebelstar, Shadowfire, those text-based adventures (n, n, get key, n, open door, unlock door, open door, n, close door, lock door, w, n, e, get stick, hit troll, hit troll, hit troll, eat stick, w, s, e, unlock door, open door, s, close door, lock door ....), Match Day (except for listenting to the WHOLE Match of the Day theme at the start of every 5-minute half) .... ahhhh |

That be Ant Attack. The first game to address the burining issue of sexism (you could be a girl or a boy, rescuing a member of the opposite sex) if not gay rights. I loved that game, and the 3D graphics were quite advanced for the day. It was basically a puzzle game.
I remember a new magazine launch where there was a competition to win a thousand games (!) plus loads of other goodies, and all you had to do was identify the object that could be found outside the city walls (it was an ammo box that did nothing). But the question was printed in the Guardian on the day of the competition, and you had to ring in at 10 a.m.! On a school day! My mum let me stay off for the morning but as soon as 10 a.m. came the line got jammed. Some bugger must have won, but it wasn't me. I was 35. |

hit troll, eat stick, w, s, e,
no wonder I could never finish them. I never did get the hang of 'EAT STICK'
- you are in a room, the carpet is green and there is a bird cage hanging from a rafter their are doors east and west.
- examine bird cage
- Don't understand examine
- look bird cage
- it is a wire cage with a small door. inside the cage is a parrot that keeps giving you a funny look.
- open door
- which door e,w,bird cage
- open bird cage door
- that was stupid you have just been eaten by a large parrot!
Thank goodeness I havent seen one of these for a while |
