So how many people run the latest version of explorer?
and how many people have the default phishing filter turned on?
and how much do you trust them anyway?
note: The phishing filter reports all the websites you visit to MS so that they can tell you if your looking at the genuine site........
lets just run past that again...
"The phishing filter reports all the websites you visit to MS" OUCH!
I have five different browsers and I'm going to use them! |

I use 'good' old IE6 mostly, cause that's what I'm used to, though once in a while I use Firefox too...
Anyway, don't you think another major company (Google) does the same? Because somehow those advertisements seem to fit really with things I'm interested in. Yes, I know google-ads look at content, but at times I get ads that don't have anything to do with the content but are about topics which I searched a lot on in the last few weeks (PHP and hosting mostly). |

Firefox!!
So much more versatile, you can add pretty much whatever you want to it.
Also, is IE actually a microsoft thing?? I thought it just came with windhoos as the default browser.
Also, i think we can expect something big from Google over the next decade or so. Aparently, they get more money than every other .com site on the internet put together!!! Insane stuff. |

I'm a firefox user and I like it^^
I used IE only at the beginning of my "virtual life career" and all my friends were like "Hey, IE sucks. Get Firefox"
So that's what I did.. |

lol steve hoo creates windhoos?
and yes google is WAY too powerful toooooo
The advertising links you see cost the companies about £1 a click....
So if you hate a company click all their links when you see them.
Their really is no right answer with this lot. Everything is pretty much available to somebody but to have a browser report all your sites is a down right cheek.
Just another point, the google toolbar does indeed monitor your browsing habits and directs adverts straight at you based on what you browse.....
And what do you think the personalised account settings are for......
I never have any of these tools installed simply because they annoy me with all teh updates and rubbish that I simply don't want but you have to ask yourself with all these tool, WHAT DO THEY GET FROM IT? because the google toolbar is not just to help you browse the internet..... |

To be honest...I don't see a lot much difference between the two. Then again, that may be because I haven't been working with 'special' add-ons up until now (just installed the developer-toolbar on Firefox, really like it).

It is. I think there was actually a fight between the EU and MS if this should be allowed (monopoly and all) though I'm not sure on that.

I rarily if ever update software on my computer because I simply can't be bothered. Don't fix what isn't broken.
To be honest, I can't be bothered that much by Google knowing the websites I browse. As long as people don't know what I browse it's fine with me. |

I'm pretty much the same, although I'm actually running a slightly older version of firefox, as the newer versions are using more and more resources to run, and poor buttercup doesn't like that...

I'm using what I think is IE 7. Got no problems, and as Medi said don't fix what isn't broken. No need to get Firefox for me. |

I use both too. I do find Firefox crashes when I have about 10 windows/tabs open, and it keeps offering me updates which require me to relaunch it which is franly a pain in the ass!
Then again IE is a big, clumsy, lumbering beast. Press ctrl+F to find a word and it the search box takes a few seconds to appear. Create a new tab and again, seconds are lost. FireFox does both instantly, and also Firefox lest me download from FTP sites whereas IE doesn't.
Pros and cons, though I can't think of all that many IE pros ... |
