Stellaris anyone?

Hi!
Has any of you played Stellaris? I tend to be very careful when it comes to Paradox games because as tempting as they seem, they are just too difficult for me. I know...I am always super excited and hopeful, and then I play through the tutorial feeling quite confident but when it comes to the gameplay itself I am lost and give up. But I heard that Stellaris is different, less complicated, and more to the likes of Civ just in space. Is it true and should I give it a go?
