Right, it's a new year. That can only mean one thing; more racing!
Looking at the archives it seems that in previous years Formula Mad has been back up and running virtually as soon as the teams have got rid of their hangovers from their new year parties. My personal opinion is that as we finished the last season fairly close to Christmas, a bit of a gap won't hurt, particularly as it'd be nice to have tracks and skins in place before naming a date for the first races. That takes time pressures off a bit. GP tracks are welcome, PM me if you don't know where to send them.
MTCC could of course return this year. A thought I had was that in between FM seasons we could have solo GP series, with tracks of a single type chosen from the existing collection and announced before the season start. There'd more than likely be room for changes if a playlist looked unappealing. You know my preference for fast tracks, so a Speed Series after FM Season 8 to kick things off is what I suggest. _________________

I'd like to see the MTCC return it was good fun having a knockout series. If not a speed series sounds good, a dirt series better and if they could be designed as a knockout series then that would be great. The only problem with a one style series though is it automatically put some drivers at a disadvantage. _________________ Mostly to be found in Forza Horizon 4 now.

I'd do the cup again but a combination of last minute organisation (my fault) and a very poor turnout on the night (some of you lots fault) it was very haphazard and not quite what I envisaged when I dreamt it up. I've got a couple of other ideas which also rely more on teamwork but I'll run them past mad before posting them here.
The MTCC could run again or alternatively we can have the solo series but I don't think we should have both as we'll rapidly end up as a server known for doing nothing but racing series and not much else.
From a personal point of view as the Mad Laps GP series takes 8 weeks I'd have it running no more than 3 times a year with at least an 8 week gap between each season otherwise familiarity may breed contempt. _________________

Ladies and Gents ( I use the term very loosely)
Looking at my own rather busy schedule I'm not going to be able to take part or organise season 8 until the middle of march at the earliest.
I've already pm'd Baino telling him to carry on skinning for SpankyTech as the team will carry on with or without me. So what I am saying is do you want to wait til the middle of March to start the season or do you want to start earlier and someone else can volunteer to help Cheese out?. _________________

As i just said in my PM after all the work you've put in I think you get to choose when it starts. _________________ Mostly to be found in Forza Horizon 4 now.

I'll have a word with Cheese later on as I know he is busy at the moment as well so will need to find a date that fits in with him for starting the season.
I'll need to try and get online to see some of these new folks wanting to take part anyway. We had quite a good turnout last season and some fairly even racing so wouldn't like to have an unbalanced team. _________________

'Lo guys. Things are indeed a bit busy at GMR towers. TM-wise there's no new cars skinned yet and I've yet to get back to people over tracks etc.; my PC is as I speak on its side, waiting for me to finish fitting a nice new Antec PSU to replace that EZCool turd I originally installed, in the vague hope that it'll sort my PC's random shutdowns.
I've no problems with waiting until March, I think I'll/we'll need that time to get stuff ready. That'll come around soon enough mind. As I keep saying I think it's best not to slap a start date on season 8 just yet. _________________

Middle of March is perfect for a four-series year, there's no hurry. _________________

Incidentally, did you know that 94% of facts and statistics found on the internet are meaningless? _________________

Might be because they are backed up by meaningless tests and surveys, the mad laps facts belong to those 6% _________________

Quick question what do you think the upper limit on teams is because I'm pretty sure we have a guaranteed 9 teams at the moment but it could be as high as 14 (42 Drivers). Just wondering so I know how many skins to have as backups for teams that need them. _________________ Mostly to be found in Forza Horizon 4 now.

I reckon 12 teams is enough personally, but we have the inevitable dropouts after race 1 which is a bit unfair on those who didn't get to take part. Go on the basis of 12 teams at the moment Baino, we'll see how many sign up when that thread gets going. _________________

well I never... thanks Statto
So going to two championships per year (as I posted in the Tank) would just formalise a situation which is bubbling under the surface in any case. _________________

To be honest I've always reckoned more than 2 seasons a year is too much it takes a bit of the occasion away from the series, we could go to the 2 series per year on a fortnightly basis or just run one big series with a break over the summer months and stick to the fortnight. We might lose racers over the course of a season if it is strung out over 8 months though. _________________

And it takes so much organisation...getting a skin/car sorted, finalising teams etc...It's fun once it gets going, but by hacing too many, the novelty wears off. |

I seem to remember Tuesday 23rd for S8 Opening GP, but I haven't caught Sir 'Spanky' Ecclestone on Vent to get that confirmed. _________________
