|
|
Hi all.
I saved a replay the other day and I was wondering how I upload the vid to Youtube? I tried uploading it as it was but it said invalid file format. I tried 'importing' it to Windows Movie Maker but it said it was an invalid file type too.
So how do I upload replays to view as a video on youtube/tm-tube etc?
Thanks |

I take umbrage at that! Umbrage, being very small, is easy to take....so I "tooked" it to places it had never been before! Outside is one of the places umbrage has never been before, and it was amazed at the big burning ball of fire in the sky!
Anyway upwards and outward (like a bad case of "the gas") : how to post videos to the dreaded "you toob"....as some banjo playing kids from the colonies like to call it!
http://help.youtube.com/support/youtube/bin/topic.py?topic=10521
Now remember that although the resolution of the videos you post are shown at 320x240 by YouTube, the original video and resolution is retained on their servers. These offer larger files sizes (slower downloading), but clearer video (you can sometimes even see some extra stuff!), and YouTube has started offering a high quality mode which plays these high quality original videos.
For example have a look at Dutchy's pole raid video, where it's easy to see the difference. You'll have to watch the video in full screen, or you'll be left wondering what the hell I'm on about from this point on :

Notice that the in game chatter is so low quality you can't see what's going on....however....with a bit of magical doohickery (that's typing to you!) this becomes available :
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Et118RqV4zA&fmt=18
The same video is now much clearer and the chat can even be read (just). Just by adding the magical arcane symbols of "&fmt=18" to the link.
So if you value being a bit future proof you may want to at least send a slightly better quality video than the YouTube help pages advises. The trick is don't send 1024 x 768 with a compression rate of 1% as you'll blow up the internet. But a video of 480 x 360 with only 10% compression might well offer you the "high def" ( ) YouTube option. _________________ http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ http://folding.stanford.edu/ |
