The glowing track edging is for graphics card that can do Pixel Shader 3 settings only.
PC0 setting : no lighting effects, flat track texturing, car windows solid black, all reflectivity only set to ultra shiny.
-------------------------------------------------
PC1 : Car reflectivity now has more than one level. Track shading becoming slightly evident.
-------------------------------------------------
PC2 : Car windows become transparent, and body has shading. Reflectivity now becomes more advanced still.
-------------------------------------------------
PC3low: Light sourcing from track edging, and environments switched on. Car is now affected by lighting, illumination texture features now switched on. Advanced shader now affecting the track to give extra texture effects.
-------------------------------------------------
PC3 High : exactly the same as PC3low setting, except the shader is now drawing the grass features. On daylight tracks the cloud layer is also more real. _________________ http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ http://folding.stanford.edu/

With this in mind, and with game chat of "LOOK everyone! Gord's car is pink!", I had to delve into this mysterious pinkness that some of you people seem to have.
Ok it's the bloody old Pixel Shaders again isn't it! Using the "pink car" (it's metallic red ya duffers! ) I did some screen grabs for those of you still labouring away with graphics cards powered by candles or hamsters in wheels.
PC0 shader : definitely shows a pink car.....oh lordy lew the horror of it all! Meanwhile the surfer has obvious edge sparklies. No I didn't use any "anti-aliens", as that's just showing off and hiding the problem!
PC1 shader : Most noticeably the sparklies around the surfer disappear, and he now appears to be more than just 3 shades of grey. The car body has almost completely changed to red now, with contrast deepening, and the overall reflectivity isn't just 1 layer deep and "super shiny".
PC2 shader : The real head scratcher in the painter. Because PC2 has the car affected by environmental lighting, but the painter has none, the vehicles now appear very shadowed and lacklustre. With the exception of the super shine applied to the glass. Beware if you're using this setting as you paint car skins, what you think you see looks completely different at all the other shader settings.
PC3 shader : and there we have it. the Surfer now appears almost metallic, and shiny as light sparkles off the curved model. Meanwhile the car...not a single pixel (I counted them) of pink! _________________ http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ http://folding.stanford.edu/
