I didn't expect him to pass other utters on a path like that...
I notice that half the people along the path were clipped onto the safety cable.... I also note that the camera man didn't seem to be!
nuts that path is nuts.
bit of a rush.... |

Yeah, but did you notice he didn't even say hello to the "overcautious" (i.e. in possession of a working brain) guy using the cable? And is that a set of gallows halfway across the pipe bridge? |

It looks mining related to me, but who built it I don't know. Some cowboys, by the looks of things. How they got that sluice gate up there I'll never know. Perhaps it has nothing to do with mining after all - it could be some water management system, and the pathe might solely be to get to the gate. If Spanky had built it it would have been a lot scarier. |

the bridge is a pipe..... and yes the sluice might also be a clue. The path is definately for access to something... like the little door before the pipe too...... nuts. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caminito_del_Rey
"In 1901 it was obvious that the workers of the Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls needed a walkway to cross between the falls, to provide transport of materials, vigilance and maintenance of the channel. Construction of the walkway lasted four years. It was finished in 1905.
In 1921 the king Alfonso XIII had to cross the walkway for the inauguration of the dam Conde del Guadalhorce, and it became known by its present name."
on the otherhands bits of it look alright, its the broken bits and tightropes that are bit dodgy.
it did remind me of this trial in china that ive seen on a most dangerous site
also while on the topic of dangerous i feel the to mention...
near La Paz in Boliva Yungas road
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unQFkNNdAsU&feature=related
its used in both directions aswell

Nice bit of research! There's a link to those Chinese pics just below the video in the comments. I like the way that bottom picture had been narrowed to make it look even more precarious! Otherwise it would have looked like the M6. |

Tolkien obviously trekked that way, it's like his description of the Stair of Cirith Ungol where Frodo and Sam get into Mordor by the 'back door'. _________________
