Not that I generally notice but I have risen up the rankings over 5000 places since I checked last week.

you've been on the server when some real fast guys have been on.
We have some real low ranked players hanging around now and they always give you a boost. |

Well when I actively played on z-rounds my rank stayed around 2,500-2,600.
Since I virtually never get points on MAD servers its more like 3,700 now.
However I have more fun so I win! _________________ It's not the winning, its the taking apart |

Yes, unfortunately laps is always really poor at giving out points. It always has been, so any racer that loves laps is at the disadvantage in the points race. Rounds on teh other hand is very generous with points. You think nadeo would have evened it out a little better...... |

If you think about it, 3 laps of a 45 second per lap track is just over 2 minutes.
If the point limit on rounds is for example, 35, thats at least 4 races minimum so already you've got 4 laps. And a single person winning 4 consecutive rounds is quite rare, so its more like 6 or 7. So double the time of laps. So it kind of makes sense. |

I think it is balanced, you only get more points on rounds, especially z rounds, because you race more (see post above) and theres usually lots of people under 5k. You get loads of points from them, not the format. And how often do we get more than 5 people under 5k on laps.....never, so you cant really compare the two |

NOPE, for the time you play and the regardless of the people, you get more points on rounds per hours play.
IE on mad rounds, if a crowd from mad laps joins, and we race we definately get way more points per hour than we would on mad laps.
obviously if you then go to zrounds and places where low ranking players race then even more points are rewarded. |

I'm not so sure. I rarely scored any points on Mad Rounds, and I'm sure it would be the case on any other similar server. Z Rounds certainly does result in more points and sure, it's because of the ranks of the players. It does seem to be a well known server round the world. I go there from time to time, and although it's competitive, the tracks don't change all that often and they are mainly composed of the "classic" tracks that you see on every other server, which means that anyone who has played TM for a while will know the tracks well and can be almost guaranteed a points haul. I'm also sure that you get your points allocated every time you cross the finish line, which in laps is once per game, but in rounds could be perhaps 7 times. I've seen people romping home on 30 points slow down and get themselves 1 point so that they get another round to score points.
Anyway, isn't TMF going to have a scoring overhaul to eliminate boosting? That will surely have an effect. Any fool can beat a booster and score loadsa points! |

Have to admit I generally score more points on the rounds servers but I almost never race on them so the vast majority of my points have come from laps.
I use that tm ladder site and noticed my win ratio has risen quite quickly so must be doing something right
Maybe after 10 months I've just hit my stride _________________
