This is going to sound incredibly mean Tred and I apologise for it in advance, but in all honesty I'm suprised Daisy runs Nations. Don't despair though, I actually find that the PC I do 99.9% of my TM stuff on runs United better than Nations. I can't see there being a massive increase in minimum requirements either.

What you need for your laptop Pep is a gamepad or PS2 pad adapter-I went for the latter and without it I'm even worse than I am now. Mr. Green I drive much more smoothly with a PS2 pad than a set of four keys.

And finally, I hate to be the bringer of doom but the Unitedising of Nations is coming. In two months you'll either have to pray that the current TMN server is kept online or get used to United's stadium. CJ, prepare for the custard pies and tightrope walkers...

I was going to say that, but didn't want to come over as saying "so there".

I wouldn't have mentioned it ... but he did specifically ask. Hell, if I corrected everyone's spelling and grammar on this forum I'd have to give up my job.

DaCheese, about the pads, i've never been used to these things, it would be worse for me than the laptop keyboard... Mr. Green

I've played on a laptop keyboard and nothing else. In fact I have broken a key because of it. I can't get used to those pads either. The amount of action between "off" and "full" just seems so minimal that it's practically switched anyway. One of the best racers I've seen plays with an analogue joystick. You can be a little more precise with that. I don't know who uses a wheel, but that would have to be the best. The only time the keyboard isn't quite right is when you're lining up for a big, big jump and if you're 1 dgeree out you'll miss the landing. I tend to wave left and right a bit but sometimes don't hit straight ahead.

The PS2 pad I use has an analogue setting, although I sometimes forget to activate it. You can tell when that happens because I attempt to steer into the first corner with the left analogue stick, only to carry on straight into the wall on the outside of the bend...I then press the analogue button and concentrate on driving cleanly to make up time.

Oh dear, you've gone and upset Buttercup now... at least you could've got her name right! Now I'm going to have to sweet talk her for the next hour before she'll do anything!

Very funny reference Very Happy , is this for my previous negative narrative of United ??, I really did like the Coast enviroment, but didn't feel adding dark and light etc, and a few nice touches to the Stadium enviroment, made it any more exciting to race, it's a shame the Dirt part of ( Stadium )
wasn't made available to the Renault 5's and Ford Escort Mk2 type cars...... instead of their suck fest enviroment's.

Anyway, lets see how TMNever shapes up Wink

Well, you have said some pretty negative stuff about United, but it actually came from here:

CRJ 127 (in the "Hi from DaCheese" topic) wrote:
I don't really care for Stadium in TMU either, and I can't figure out why. Maybe it's the selection of enviroment pieces, don't really know? The TMU game has an overall "Circus" feel to it, with clowns, jugglers, tighrope walking and of course custard pies in the face. It's a joke and so is the support for lap racing...

There we have it. A couple more things to say yet though; the Desert car's a mk1 Escort, and if you'd like to try the Rally and Desert cars on the filth in TMU's Stadium Nadeo made versions that work in all environments. They can be found in the TMU carpark.

As a general message to all of you let's please not refer to TMF as TM Never, it's only going to lower attitudes towards a currently in development update to an unfair level.

Sheesh, sometimes I feel like I'm the only person here who's sticking up for United's sorry a** (although that's not true as Pep's given it a good try).

Cheese if I spend good money on software I expect it to work or get fixed. United neither worked or got fixed, and on those two counts it failed.
Whilst it is very pretty it is a pretty awful piece of work and to release it in that state is not acceptable.

Trackmania Never may well be the same..... though actually I belive it's probably just the fix for united that united never got.

hey Da Cheese, I'm sticking up for United's Stadium. The dirt sections are a slider's dream, the interactive zeppelin and other sideshow attractions were grist to MMMBat's mill, the ambient variables and overall rendering are absolutely stunning. Here's the kicker: in TMU Stadium I am just about as fast as any racer out there. Funny that.

Me too, Midden. I thought TMU stadium rocked, especially the dirt. I could never work out why people hated it so, unless they wanted its characteristics to be identical to road, which would have been pointless. Maybe you're right. Some of us love to slide - and lose because of it - but slide all the same.

It's just the rest of TMU that I found unplayable and clunky.

Hmm, looks like I'm going to have to eat my words (pulls out forum post pie and scoffs it). And Mad, you have a very good point. I've not looked at it that way.

Now, who's up for a TMU Stadium Rallycross series with Group B rally car models?
