This is a post that I've shamelessly stolen from the UF1R forums, but Steve (Ex-[RFR] Steve that is) has told me on teamspeak that I can stick it wherever I want (ooo-err missus):

Steve wrote:
I'm in the process of setting up a project that I've been contemplating for a long time now, an endurance series on TM ultimately with a proper 24 hour race (this is a long way off).

A test series is in the planning, with the following dates penciled in:

Sunday 17th January (morning/early afternoon GMT)
Saturday 6th February (evening/night GMT)
Saturday 27th February (morning/early afternoon GMT)

These races will be 2 hours, with a driver change half way through.

Plenty more info at http://www.tmendurance.com hopefully there'll be a factory UF1R team, and maybe those who are either in a different team or not in a team at all will still be interested; this is open to everyone on TM Smile

I'd just like to add that there won't be any rules regarding driving styles etc, the only rules will be regarding pitstops/driver changes/grid starts (if implemented). So if anyone here is interested in endurance racing, be sure to signup and get involved Smile

That will depend on which method steve goes with. So far I've seen him trial 2 different methods...

Method 1: Race is timed, in laps mode. Basically each race is split into hour segements, with team drivers racing in different segments. Checkpoints are added together to give a team total, and the team with the highest total wins (tie-breaker is time to get to those checkpoints)

Method 2: Race is set to a certain number of laps in rounds mode (I think, although I think this one can be in laps mode as well), this will be just about half the total laps for the race. Theres a special area in the pits which provides an overhead view of the whole track, where drivers who aren't racing wait. After a certain amount of laps (I think it's about 90% of them) the 1st driver comes into the pits and into the stall just in front of the waiting area. The 2nd driver then moves forward into the pit stall and activates the pitstop sequence. The 2nd driver then completes the required laps, while the 1st driver sits in the waiting area.

I know that sounds a bit complicated, but both methods work pretty well, as long as everyone knows whats happening beforehand. Obviously I'm not Steve, so he may be using a totally different method, or even a combination method, although this 1st test series is designed to try and even out any problems that arise from things like this Wink

Anyways, if you sign up on the forums there and ask these questions, I'm sure they'll be answered more completely Smile
