If anyone feels the need to make a 'tutorial' on how to make a nice intro
I won't stop you

(I want to know how you can let the camera follow a certain course. For example SOR MAD - Crazy Laps - yea of course, that track rules - that's an intro that I remember, how do you let the camera follow that path)

You really have to do it manually.

Create a custom camera span.

Click point 1 key (yellow bit).

Move the camera to where you want point (1) to be with your arrow keys/PgUp and PgDn/zoom/ATL+mouse, then click key point (2) and move your camera to the view you want. This will create a simple 1-2 transition along the desired path.

Then to add more points, drag the end point (2) forward a few seconds. The red time marker line will stay where it is (somewhere along the span). Click New Key. Now click the newly created yellow key.
Click Ctrl+the last yellow key (which will duplicate the (2) values to the new key), then click the last key and move the camera to point (3).
Now you'll have a 3-point journey. Keep adding keys along the path you want.

Repeat ad nauseam.

If you're not happy with a particular camera point you can change it by clicking the key and adjusting the camera. You can also drag keys forwards and backwards in time. Sometimes, especially in hermite mode, the camera will go behind walls and under roads and whatnot. Either change the camera position or change the mode of that key and the one preceding to linear.

Alternatively, make lots of individual (1)---->(2) blocks on the same track and drag them togther. This will end up more like an edited film than a single path, but it's still useful.

Have I just complicated it immeasurably? Just follow it slowly and it will soon become second nature.

This is one part that i find slightly confuzzing, and my experimental approach has not yet revealed the answer.

Say, i got three keys

and i want the camera to move between key 1 and 2 by hermite, then between 2 and 3, linear. Which keys would be hermite, and which one would be linear?

Basically, does the hermite or linear effect the bit before the key, or after the key?

steve the best way is probably to split the track at that point and use two keys... that way you know what your getting.

As for steve's query - I haven't a clue, but appreciate fully why you have asked because I've wondered too. I usually do trial and error tbh, but if you have linear on both sides it comes out linear.

It's weird when you have two identical ones like you'd have at the end of an intro, joined with a hermite and the camera still moves about on its path.

What's the other one? Circular or something. I forget, but I have never used it.
