One of my hobbies ( ) is locating circuits on Google Maps. It's quite interesting - they're usually pretty desolate places, but hey looky here! The satellite seems to have passed over Monza on race day! I'm not sure if it's F1 but there does appear to be a Jordan team there which would make it a few years old, but the red one (if it's Ferrari) is too far down the pitlane.

Nice detective work Midden!!!
Yes I noticed the cars didn't look F1, although the resolution goes a little so I don't think you'd see the nose cone too well.
It all looks too higgledy-piggledy for f1 in hindsight ....
Still a race day, though. |

Nice shot Bunsen
Does someone know if the "banking" part of the track is stil used for some kind of races ?
If you don't know what i mean, look at this video. The few first footages are for Monaco, and then it comes to Monza. |

I think the banking is disused and overgrown now, but people walk around it. I could be wrong. |

So Bunsen you've located other tracks as well?
Ever heard of the Paul Armagnac circuit in Nogaro?
(Shell Eco-Marathon was held there, in which I competed with school - that's me standing over the car ) |

I love the "head higher than the roll bar" arrangement. That is genius. |

I'm sure I read that the banked oval's been out of use for years; a few too many accidents happened. The normal circuit's fast enough...
Anybody notice in that film clip that there were cars on the normal circuit as well as on the oval? I can't see how you could do a complete lap incorporating both parts. Artistic lisence methinks. _________________

The oval was a part of the track. It must probably mean that you had to cross the startline twice to complete a lap... not sure... |

the 'road section' is, and i may be wrong, part of the old Spa track.
Without any guarantee of reliability, i can categorically suggest it was situated
at the back end of the course a little before Eau Rouge and was up until at least
quite recently perhaps still in hybrid public/track use.
Maybe. I've been out of it for 25 years and life becomes increasingly dreamlike _________________

i would say its not f1 on race day. going by the amount of cars in the areas around the track that most likely get used for car parking its just a small private event.
am going to get looking now |

Melbourne and Montreal are (I think) used for recreation the rest of the year - i.e. parks. |

Have a look at the RFR server Bunsen, they have made so many tracks, there are a lot more to find for you |
