Evening all

Been noticing some wierdness on the server re finishing positions. Just caught it doing the biz tonight again: when you cross the line and look at the driver position they're as expected, but when the end game positions pop up some positions are different. Typically, I notice when I'm pipped to the post but the scoreboard shows me as winning.

Here's a couple of screenies to demonstrate:


This is taken after crossing the finish line. Notice that c0bby says "Annoyed there..., had it in the bag really" 'cos he lost that, as the rankings shows.


This is the same race moments later when the final scoreboard pops up. Notice how c0bby is shown as having won, Middenrat have jumped up several places, and other players (me included) have been shuffled around.

I'm pretty sure this didn't used to happen. Only been seeing it over the last week or so. Seems to be more common with a full server.

And i dont know why its doing that... although, it looks like a problem with Trackmania, and not mad's server.

I understand cobby changing places as there is sometimes some lag between players and the server. This leads to the impression you've lost by a small amount but when the times are compared you win by a small amount. The lag is normally in the region of 1/4 of a second or similar and is caused by your ping.

What I don't understand is the times actually change... by large amounts. Your time is clearly shown as 2.26 and then suddenly its 2.09:92 now that makes no sense at all to me.......... and most of the top ten have the same time problem.....

Some hacks exist for TM would could confuse it..... I'm looking into them.

I understand about the lag, but that's why I thought this set of screenies would be more useful - the first one is clearly correct even if I'm lagging since c0bby (and Steve) agree with it. If one is wrong then it has to be the second one, but I assume that's generated by the server (since it awards ladder points) so must be right.

Gotta admit I'm a bit surprised no-one else has noticed, which implies it's my system. I recently applied the latest patch (which adds better CP info) so I guess that's suspect. I'll try a different laps server, if I can find a busy one.

the 'live' CP updater in bottom right is slow and inaccurate in my game, often failing to record the final sector correctly. Perhaps the Tab screen in fig1 is behaving similarly, displaying a mix of partial data from both the final and penultimate CP.

those final times have got to be the times recorded through checkpoint 11, as the the top 6 'finishing' times on the podium screen are faster than the number 1 record by the king. Somehow the first screen shows the ACTUAL finishing times and the second shows the checkpoint 11 times.

weird though, it might have something to do with you holding tab to view the finishing times when the times gets to 0.

@Midden: I think the tab screen is right, not just because of the c0bby thing but also because you can see that MyBoozyHell has a time of 2:16.50 and that's confirmed by the server giving him record 37 for it. On the scoreboard he's credited with 2:00.70 which must be wrong.

Just tried this on a different server and got the same effect. It's actually quite obvious if you know what to look for now (i.e. the last CP times). I assume it's the patch that's caused this so I've added a comment to the patch notification about it.

Yes, this is the patch that I think is causing the problem. It does indeed show the CP times of the following players (which is the main attraction of it for me). I think that fix might have screwed up the scoreboard.

Bit of a quandary here. On the one hand it's nice to know who really won, but it's very useful to see just how far ahead you are during the race.

it works with the beta server. This is happening with people using the fix on previous dedi server.
