Hi all. I am new to the forum though I have been using the mad laps server on and off since I got into Trackmania.
Anyway. I love making tracks, usually for LAN games, but thinking of putting some out there.
This is the first one and I am posting it here because its not built for Mad Laps, with the signs and all, but I'd like some of you to try it and let me know if it would be worth the trouble modifying it to fit the 'Mad Laps look', 1 lap validation, etc.

If you think its rubbish just say so, I am an exhibiting photographer and used to taking criticism of my work |

By the sound of it you've actually read Mad's guidelines on trackbuilding, which makes a change! I've just given it a try and being completely honest didn't find it very exciting as it's a fairly simple circuit with some truly evil positioning of poles and holes. At the moment it's a no from me, but it's not my decision; we'll see what others think and as this may take a while due to other demands on the admins' time keep the tracks coming! Next time though please put them in the Forever Tracks section instead of General Chat. _________________

In it's current state, I'd agree with cheese however........
remove the holes... you approach them blind and are garanteed to hit them.
Adjust some boosts... they boost you too far on the jumps. adjust it so you land before the corner.
think carefully about your poles. poles should be a danger but too many kill it. the really tough ones up the top, you should probably remove the second set.....
water... not necessary to have so much. It kills frame rates.
night time.. also kills frame rates but it pretty
Hope that helps. |

Thanks for your comments, its exactly the kind of feedback I wanted.
I personally like the holes and poles as obstacles, and having to slow down mid-air because a jump might take you too far but you guys are more aware of what the general players will receive well, and theres no point in making a track that is to my taste and no one else's
I agree this track might be too simple, especially if I start removing obstacles, so I think its better to start others from scratch or go back to other existing ones and modify accordingly.
Thanks again for the feedback. |
