dispite handiloops appearing to make things closer overall at the end.
I dont feel the rivilaries ive felt in previous seasons, just seems like a chore to do the 25 laps
sure it seems anyone can win a gp, which is great, but i miss bombing around in tight racing with bunsen, spanky, midden and cheese.
Mad will probably say, once the handiloop system is sorted you can rejoice in these close battles... _________________

you're not the only one - I feel the same.
Although it's nice to finish close to each other , I like starting close way better and there's no position one can achieve which tells one anything about the way he/she drove, it's just doing 25 laps.
Anytime someone gets passed there cant be a close fight because the one in front is slower and the one coming from behind is usually someone way faster than oneself.
In the old system it was like driving against a horde of guys who are different in their skills and amounts of mistakes, now I feel like racing against time |

I don't think anyone is claiming the system is perfect, and there's no doubt it does have shortcomings, but we should see the season out, perhaps making small tweaks here and there, and then debate whether to continue with it. Four races in, it's still in a bit of a state of flux and might need simplifying somewhat! |

Right enough the system isn't perfect mad admits this himself. JawZ is also right that the close racing had last season by the likes of me, him, mid, cheese etc isn't happening as much this time because we all have slightly different handicaps although me and cheese did have a brief battle in the second race which unfortunately he crashed in the middle of.
Simplifying might be the answer instead of 30 odd racers on 30 different handicaps after the first three races we put people into bands so the likes of JawZ, me, mid, cheese, bunsen etc are starting with the same amount of loops because historically we end up fighting for the same positions.
When we were on vent last night mad did make the point the handiloops system is there to to make people raise their game and in the first race I had to try and stay ahead once I got out in front and thankfully I did although I do admit had I done the same amount of handiloops as mid I wouldn't have won it. _________________

Things are improving...
I see where your coming from but you set off at the same time as people of your skill level and you should still be racing the people you raced last season, It should just be closer....
We have had some major problems with disconnections this year thanks to virgin and swats unfortunate problem. Also bunsen hasn't started a race on time yet
So far as I can see in my racing the track is a heck of a lot busier with people to chase and people catching. It is harder to see what's happening and the final positions have not been as refined as I hoped but they are improving. Some of this is down to wrong handicaps and some is just that we all perform differently each week. As for the finish It's great to think we all stand a chance of winning one if we can perform at our best....
Stick with it, we'll judge the season at the end to see how successful it becomes or flops |

Good point actually, this weeks tracks suited my style more and that coupled with the handicap helped me win. Which is the point of the system allowing those with a lower skill level the chance to hammer out a better result. _________________

Ha! I think you'll find that not only did I start on time last week, I led the field into the last corner after fending off a uncharacteristically competent challenge from Matt! Last night was a mare, and I did miss the start of the pre-season warm-up, true.
I think the only problem is that handicap might well produce closer endings, but it is all for nothing when you don't get the points for your track position because others have performed mathematical jiggerypokery with their HLs.
But like I say, it's best to form an opinion after a larger sample than 4 races! |

Charming! lol
Still not feeling the handicaps. Yussuf is right, you're no longer racing opponents but racing the clock instead. I race laps because I like racing against others and not the clock...I'd go on some random time-attack server if I wanted that
I hope next season we can go back to normal racing...people who wanted a change have had one...can we now have another and go back after this please |

I have to agree with JawZ on this one
But I think (as many others) we should finish the season and judge the system afterwards |

I raced Series 1 and that was on the original TM Nations, what I do miss is the fact that if you crashed out badly, that was it race over ( no restarts ) and that rewarded a fast but more consistent driving style over 25 laps, making sure you finish the race. I think it was just always at the back of your mind during the race, adding to the tension
Still early days yet for the Handicap system but each time we race, more data is added which will help define a better average and more consistent starting handicap, pretty soon we'll all be renewing " friendly " peer group rivalries on track with the bonus of closer finishes for all too. _________________
