talking of naked-eye sightings, earlier this month came a great opportunity to observe Mercury - and I missed it, the one naked-eye object in our system I've never seen 
APOD got it of course, with a gorgeous conjunction of the NewMoon :
with its 88-day orbit Mercury will be there once again in October-ish, being a morning object midway.
